KESSLER REHAB
CENTER

Project Overview:

The Restoration Project at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Saddle Brook, NJ, aimed to enhance the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the facility. Through a comprehensive approach, various services were rendered to address maintenance, protection, and improvement aspects of the building.

Objective:

  • Enhance the structural integrity and longevity of the building.
  • Improve energy efficiency by sealing gaps and preventing air leakage.
  • Protect the building against water intrusion and moisture-related damage.
  • Restore the aesthetic appeal of the exterior facade.
  • Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for occupants and visitors.

Project Scope:

A high-quality elastomeric coating was applied to all elevations of the building. This coating serves as a protective layer, enhancing durability while providing resistance to weathering, UV radiation, and other environmental factors.

The existing caulking around window perimeters and expansion joints was meticulously removed and replaced. This process ensures proper sealing, preventing moisture intrusion and air leakage, thus contributing to energy efficiency and structural longevity.

Waterproofing measures were implemented below grade to fortify the building’s foundation against water infiltration. This crucial step helps mitigate risks associated with moisture-related damage, such as mold growth and structural degradation.

Metal flashing was installed strategically to reinforce the building envelope and prevent water penetration at vulnerable points, such as roof intersections, wall junctures, and openings. This enhances weather resistance and protects interior spaces from water damage.

Comprehensive stucco repairs were undertaken to address any deterioration, cracks, or imperfections in the exterior stucco finish. By restoring the integrity of the stucco facade, the aesthetic appeal of the building is enhanced while ensuring structural soundness.

The deteriorated exterior rubber gaskets in the north and south elevations were carefully removed and replaced. This maintenance task contributes to the overall weatherproofing of the building envelope, preventing water infiltration and maintaining interior comfort levels.

Conclusion:

The Restoration Project at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Saddle Brook, NJ, successfully addressed various maintenance and enhancement needs of the building’s exterior. By applying elastomeric coatings, replacing caulking, implementing waterproofing measures, installing metal flashings, repairing stucco, and replacing exterior rubber gaskets, the project aimed to fortify the structure, improve energy efficiency, and enhance the visual appeal of the facility. This comprehensive approach contributes to the overall durability, sustainability, and functionality of the rehabilitation center, benefiting both its occupants and the community it serves.
